PRIMADERA is a pioneering organization in Colombia and Latin America dedicated to manufacturing wooden boards, using a mix of recycled woods and cultivated forests. In 2023, we are pleased to continue being part of the team to launch the ALMA collection, a collection dedicated to recyclers.
Just as the soul is the substance from which life is made, recycling allows materials to have a new life. Without recyclers, the circular process of wood would not be possible, which is essential in a world in the midst of an environmental crisis. That is why, at PRIMADERA, we focus on transforming and utilizing wood considered waste (known as urban wood), making us the first company in Latin America to recycle and use these scraps to produce new particle boards. In fact, PRIMADERA already has a real recycling impact as our own waste is returning to be part of the production process. This way, we are beginning to close the loop of the circular economy.
At PRIMADERA, we are fortunate to work with 11 associations and approximately 300 recyclers. These individuals have been working for 20, 30, or more years, recycling 12 hours a day on the streets, capable of collecting over 300 tons of wood per month. But that’s not all; some of these “collecting souls” were born to dance salsa and play soccer; some love birds and are grandmothers, mothers, and sisters; some are programmers, and others enjoy reading and collecting books. Our immense gratitude, always.
With them and for them, we present ALMA, our 2023 collection dedicated to the work of recyclers, those people who make PRIMADERA possible. We celebrate with 2 wood designs based on representative Colombian trees (Flormorado and Andino) and 4 solid-color complements: Jayka (green), Sukta (graphite), Yalaa (white), and Volcánico (black), inspired by Colombia’s natural and mineral pigments.
